What is the difference between an "open mall" and a "conventional mall"?
The key difference between the Conventional shopping malls and Open shopping malls is that of focus. Unlike conventional malls which tend to offer entertainment value to the Customers, the open malls are completely focused on "selling" through a Retailing format that offers an unmatched visibility and value to the brands on offer.
Design wise an open mall is an attached row of stores or service outlets managed as a coherent Retail entity, with surface parking usually located in front of the stores. An open mall may be configured in a straight line, or have an "L" or "U" shape. Conventional Malls typically are multistoried and are enclosed, with a climate-controlled walkway between two facing strips of stores.
